ISI Inspections

Senior School pupils near School House

We are pleased to report that our full ISI Inspection 2021 resulted in an impressive outcome for Oswestry School. The report showed the school was recognised for it’s high quality provision in academic achievements and in personal development, both within the curriculum, the co-curriculum and in Boarding. We are proud that all standards were deemed to be fully met in the regulatory compliance inspection, meaning our excellent pastoral care of pupils was validated by the Inspectorate. In the Educational Quality Inspection, we were awarded Good for both the The quality of the pupils’ personal development and The Quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements. This is a tribute to the hard work of all the staff, pupils, governors, and of course parents, in supporting the school's vision to provide the very best all-round education, and develop young people of character, who will make a difference in the world around them.

They said:

'Pupils have an excellent understanding of how to keep themselves safe and know how to be physically and mentally healthy.'

'The pupils respond very effectively to the high standards and expectations set by staff and senior leaders as well as by the senior and prep school prefects, who collectively help create a real sense of community and shared focus.'

'Pupils of all ages are highly self-confident. They show notable resilience and pupil discussions confirmed that they have a very clear and objective understanding of how to improve their own learning and performance both academically and in co-curricular activities.'

'The spiritual value of togetherness is highly celebrated and has been particularly appreciated by the pupils in the lockdown periods over the last year, through their remote learning pastoral activities.'
