Careers & Higher Education

Oswestry School provides clear, appropriate and individual advice, information, support and guidance to pupils so that they can make informed choices as they progress through the school.

There are 4 routes for puils to research and we advise them to prepare for two to keep their options open.

  • UK University
  • International University
  • Degree Apprenticeship
  • Direct Workplace Entry

The Parents' Guide to...

These guides are designed to provide parents with the information they need to help their teenage children create successful futures. They include the most up-to-date information on topics such as apprenticeships, universities and revision techniques.

Unifrog

As part of Oswestry School's careers guidance, we subscribe to the Unifrog programme. This comprehensive destinations and careers pathway platform offers a complete one-stop careers advice and guidance shop for pupils, regardless of their interests or academic ability. The programme is constantly updated so that pupils can be confident that information about potential careers pathways is always current.

Pupils are introduced to the  programme at the beginning of the 3rd Form and are given their own personal login and ID which gives them access to the service for the remainder of their school career. The programme allows them to independently research any career, to learn about what this involves, and the necessary steps required to achieve success in their chosen field.

In the Sixth Form, pupils can use the service for guidance about universities, both in the UK and internationally. It also allows them to search information about UK apprenticeships and other post-18 options.
