    Tasmin Little, internationally acclaimed violinist

"It has been my great pleasure to give three concerts in Oswestry over the past few years. Not only is the church (Holy Trinity, Oswestry) one of the nicest venues of its kind that I have played in but on each occasion I have experienced a venue which is full and overflowing with such a warm and appreciative audience. It is astonishing that a small town such as Oswestry can sustain six concerts a year with the calibre of international musicians who enjoy visiting, such as the London Mozart Players, with whom I recently gave a concert.

I wish the town all the best and hope that the concerts will continue, as it is the efforts of the local people which help keep the community spirit alive during times of difficulty and financial constraint."

    Series Director: Christopher Symons

Yet again, your chance to enjoy here in Oswestry six wonderfully varied concerts of classical music performed by truly great performer.  Highlights from last Season which thrilled the record audiences, included the Tallis Scholars, the Pavel Haas String Quartet and pianist Freddy Kempf.  Over 200 music lovers from a very wide area bought the full Subscriber Ticket, recognising its excellent value.

This 2010-11 Season offers another remarkable line-up.

In October, shortly after playing all five Beethoven concertos in the BBC Proms, the highly acclaimed British pianist Paul Lewis will perform music by Mozart, Schumann, Liszt and Beethoven.  Then in November, wonderful music for piano trio, when a good friend of the Series, Martin Roscoe, plus the former leader of the Lindsays, Peter Cropper, and cellist Moray Welsh will play music by Haydn, Mozart and Tchaikovsky.

In March, great orchestral music, when the European Union Chamber Orchestra and cellist Guy Johnston will play music by Mozart, Haydn, Macmillan and Liszt.  Also in March, a Celebrity Recital, when the world-famous choir The Sixteen, under the direction of Harry Christophers, will sing a glorious programme of music by Victoria (1548-1611), as part of their acclaimed Choral Pilgrimage.  In May, the renowned tenor James Gilchrist will be partnered by Christopher Symons in a recital of music by Beethoven and Schubert (including his final song cycle "Schwananengesang"). To end the season, a return visit by old friends of the series - the Skampa String Quartet.  Their programme will include Schubert, Dvorak and (with Christopher Symons) the Piano Quintet of Shostakovich.
