Oswestry School welcomes pupils from many countries, both pupils whose parents are working abroad and those who are coming to the UK to study for the first time.
We are a very friendly school and pupils soon feel at home in the warm, family atmosphere. We arrange for airport transfers for all our overseas pupils at the beginning and end of each term.
Specialist English language tuition is offered to all our overseas pupils. The principal aim of this tuition is to ensure that all our pupils achieve the level of linguistic competence that will enable them to derive maximum benefit from teaching in all the subjects available in the School’s broad educational curriculum.
EFL lessons are charged as an extra at £270 per term (from September 2008). Additional individual lessons are available where required, charged at an hourly rate. Pupils are taught in small groups and are prepared for a variety of English language examinations including IELTS. Pupils undertake practice examinations both in and out of the class with comprehensive individual feedback. Teaching is based in a centrally located classroom which is equipped with specialised EFL resources.
It is expected that senior students planning to continue their education at tertiary level will meet the requirements for competence in English that are specified by universities and similar institutions.
Most of our pupils from overseas who join us remain with us until the end of the Sixth Form. We do, however, welcome a number of pupils each year who join us for short periods of time of one or two terms, or one year.
Where it is not possible to come to Oswestry School for interview, we do require potential pupils to take an entrance test. These can be sent to the applicant’s school or be administered through an agent.
