These run throughout the year during term time from Monday to Thursday, 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
During morning assembly pupils will let the Headmistress know if they are attending after school activities.
Children may stay as long as required from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. and parents will normally pay the hourly rate to the activity supervisors at the end of each day/week.
Pupils from the Nursery and those up to and including Year 2 go to the Nursery at 3.30 p.m. where they are supervised by the two classroom assistants on duty for that evening. A range of activities is organised by the assistants.
Year 3 and Year 4 children will go to the designated classroom for that evening to complete their prep. under a teacher’s supervision. At approximately 4.30 p.m. they will join the remainder of the children in the Nursery. At 4.50 p.m. all children go over to the dining room where they are given a light meal and are collected by their parent/guardian by 5.30 p.m.
Mrs Sarah-Jayne Blackwell, qualified ISTD teacher, runs this in the school hall, on a Thursday for Years 3 and 4 children. Bellan pupils attend from 4.00 p.m. to 4.45.p.m. and are joined by the older pupils from the Senior School at 4.15 p.m. The more able pupils classes run until 5.15 p.m.
There is a charge for this club which is added to pupil’s termly bills.
This runs during the Michaelmas and Lent terms and is open to any Year 3 or Year 4 pupils who elect to attend at the beginning of the school year. Children may join in at a later date subject to spaces being available.
This season it has run on a Thursday. Pupils change into their running kit at Bellan and are transported to the Quarry site by the normal 4.00 p.m. mini bus run. The club is run by Mr Peter Jones - sports master. Children are collected by their parent/guardian from the Senior School at 4.50 p.m. There is no charge for this club.
Several weeks of activities are run during the summer holidays and further weeks may run during other holidays according to availability of staff and depending on how the holiday dates fall.
A programme of events is sent home to parents who may then chose on which day their children would like to attend. The classroom assistants and the Headmistress choose the venues for the days. The school secretary makes bookings for venues and buses. Parents pay the set charge for each day, currently £17, in advance.
