Postcard from Calgary

After nearly nineteen years of working as an airline pilot for Gulf Air in Bahrain, my wife and I felt that it was time to move on.  Being an airline pilot is not the most sociable job in the world and I was missing too much of my children growing up.  My daughter is now sixteen and my son is fourteen, there was very little for them in Bahrain and, as moving back to Kenya was not an option and I don't like British winters, we had to find somewhere else to go. I had bought a house to the West of Calgary some years ago and so we emigrated here in May 2007.

Since moving, I have spent the time assisting in the renovation of our home which ought to be completed by the end of June and I am now looking for a job in the executive jet market.

My brother, Mark, is still with Gulf Air and will complete twenty years with them this year.  He is a senior line Captain flying Airbus 330 and 340 aircraft and will return to Kenya when he has had enough of airline flying.

My sister, Penny, now lives in County Mayo, Southern Ireland with her husband and two sons.

I visit the OO website from time to time and enjoy reading about those who I remember. Sadly there are the inevitable obituaries, but I think that there is a picture of Mr. Stratford who, from the photo, seems to be in good shape and PS Jones does not look any older!

Hopefully I will visit the UK in the next year or two and will attempt to make it to Oswestry. I would enjoy showing it to my children.

If any of my old colleagues wish to contact me I would like to "touch base" with them and they can contact me on sarget@telus.net.

All the best,

Tim Sarginson OO (1968-74)
