Thursday 8th March
CCF

Field Day (Nesscliff)

The school's CFF deployed onto Nesscliff area to do a split training package during daylight hours of the 8th March 2007 making a departure from the normal routine of the 24 hour exercise.

The recruits enjoyed a package that included basic military skills which were presented in the form of stands run by both outside instructors and also the detachments own NCOs.  The stands included making shelters, cooking, an observation lane, movement with and without a rifle and camouflage and concealment.  Feedback from the cadets was positive and they all felt that they learnt something.

The Year 10s and 11s took part in a section attack training package which was split into 3 stands in the morning with the components being brought together in the afternoon to create a Battle Exercise which was run by 3 regular soldiers.  Part of this day not only allowed the year 10s to develop their own skills but also allowed the year 11s to be given command appointments as part of the training and selection process for the promotion to Lance Corporal.

The visiting staff who helped on the day which included an Officer from another CCF and a staff sergeant from the Army Cadet Force commented on how impressed they were with the enthusiasm of the cadets as well as their turn out and behaviour.
