Oswestry School 600 Event

St David’s Day Concert, Holy Trinity Church, 7.30pm

600th Anniversary Concert - Programme Sponsored by Westminster Engineering Ltd, Wrexham

Oswestry School Senior, Lower School and Bellan House choristers and musicians joined forces with members of Cantiones, Oswestry’s premier Chamber choir, the Porthywaen Band, Oswestry Sinfonia and the Shropshire Youth Orchestra to celebrate with an evening of stirring entertainment. 

In addition to individual items from our guests, the concert featured a performance of “The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace” by Karl Jenkins.

This moving and exciting work combines diverse historical and multi-cultural texts with the usual mass form in a compelling account of the descent into, and terrible consequences of war.  This latest in a six hundred year old tradition of the “Armed Man” mass settings concludes in an expression of hope for times to come.
