Saturday 13th January
Netball

1st VII, U15, U14 v Bedstone College (a) 1.30pm

This was the first match of the season as Wednesday's match had been cancelled due to floods.

1st VII - Won 30-10

The team started off slowly as, with many new players, it took the girls time to gel and practice the set pieces.  As confidence grew, they began to get into their stride with dynamic passes in the centre between Gemma Watkiss and Sophie Adams followed by good movement in the circle and finishing shots from Katherine Stockdale and Katy Yates.

Substitutions were made as lack of fitness began to show but everyone slotted into the game well, which is the sign of a good squad.  Victoria Martoccia continued to make some excellent interceptions as GD, setting up good attacking moves.

All the girls played excellently and deserved their win of 30-10.  Well done everyone!

U15 VII - Lost 5-11

The U15 team took time to settle into the game and conceded several goals in the first quarter.  However, they stepped up the pace and showed some excellent attacking moves, determined to get back into the game.  By half time they had managed to reduce the scoreline with Bedstone leading by two goals.  However, Oswestry found it difficult to maintain their performance and Bedstone extended the lead.  The game ended with Bedstone winning 11-5.

U14 VII - Won 40-2

The U14s started the season with an excellent display against Bedstone, demonstrating a high level of netball with effective passing, movement and shooting. They played very well as a team and made very few errors.  At half time, after 20 minutes of play, Oswestry were leading 21-0.

In the second half, they continued to dominate the game with Sophie Yates and Stacey Baker showing excellent consistency with their shooting skills.  The final score ended with Oswestry winning 40-2.  An outstanding performance from the U14 team.

Well done.
