We Want Your Photos!
Hundreds of Santas lined up in Oswestry today for the 2006 Santa Run in aid of Hope House Children's Hospice. Sponsor money raised through the event will help to fund the care and support Hope House Children's Hospices provide to terminally ill local children and their families. Ten per cent will go to the Oswestry Olympians appeal to build an all weather running track, in recognition of their help organising the run.
Starting at 11am, teenagers and adults were challenged to walk, jog or run 2.5 miles from Oswestry Livestock Market, finishing in the centre of the town. There was also a Mini Santa Run and Santa Parade for children aged under 12 in Oswestry's Cae Glas Park from 1.30pm.
Emily and Lloyd Roberts (Years 5 and 6) ran with their family - here's what they had to say about it.
"We all finished and ran all the way, Jack and Sam ran it rather more quickly than Lloyd, Emily, Ed and I did but managed it in less than half an hour. The atmosphere around town was magical. Emily won the best dressed Santa - a karaoke machine no less (great - more noise!). Didn't manage to take many photos too busy running but here's a team photo before we ran."
