Art Workshop at Senior School - All Day

Portraits in the Style of . . . .

Pupils from Year 4, accompanied by Miss Diane and Mrs Woollam, came up from their Bellan House site to visit the senior school for an Art Workshop.

Divided into two groups, the children worked in both the Junior Art Room at the Quarry and the Senior Art Room in the Powis Building, moving between the two whilst the paint dried!

Led by Mrs Price, the groups in the Quarry Art Room worked on portraits in the manner of Giuseppe Arcimboldo who invented a style of portrait painting by painting the images of animals, flowers, fruit, and objects to form a human likeness.  In the Senior Art Room, Mrs Stonehill worked with the children on portraits in the manner of Picasso.

See some more work by Picasso at the On-Line Picasso Project and have a go at making your own version on this fun site Mr. Picassohead.

The photos show one of the groups working with Mrs Stonehill.
