With the end of the Trinity term, it is sadly time to say farewell to Samridha Agrawal and Shivam Agarwal.
Samridha and Shivam are two students from the Scindia School in Gwalior, which is in Madhya Pradesh in central India. They have been visiting Oswestry School on a student exchange scheme, a project in which the two schools have cooperated for several years. Scindia School is one of India's most prestigious boarding schools for boys. Founded by the late Maharaja of Gwalior in 1897, and situated in the city of Gwalior at the heart of India, the school once restricted entry to princes. By tradition, the Maharaja is still the Chairman of Governors.
For both boys this is their first visit to the UK. Commenting on their visit the boys said: “We have enjoyed our time very much. The weather has been really good; in India it is about 45 degrees at this time of the year, and very humid.” Both boys are full of praise for the teaching and the support they have received at Oswestry. “We have really appreciated the atmosphere of the school and we have enjoyed staying in Holbache house, where everybody has been most friendly and welcoming. As well as the classes we have enjoyed the sport, especially cricket. We have also had many interesting trips and visits to places outside school.”
When term ends Samridha and Shivam will be staying with relatives in London before returning to India. They have another two years of study at school before going on to further education and they are planning to study engineering.
