Year 8 were encouraged to get their hands dirty when they took part in a Ceramics Workshop under the guidance of local artist Spence Hollands.
During the day they fashioned gargoyles, making a good cross-curricular link with other work on the mediaeval period and on dragons.
“We encourage all our students to develop their artistic talents to the full, and a valuable way of doing this is by inviting guest artists into the school,” said Art Teacher Mrs Price. “A workshop like this gives the pupils a good introduction to the art form and a chance to develop their skills in handling clay.”
Spence Hollands is based in Ellesmere. He was formerly Head of Art at a school in Shrewsbury. "I really enjoy bringing the pottery experience to schools and the wider community," he said.
