Interski Award for Oswestry School

Oswestry School has been voted the best school for the 2007-08 season by Ski travel company Interski, who specialise in organising school skiing trips to the Aosta Valley, Italy. Hoteliers and Instructors are invited to nominate their best group for each season, basing their choice on tidy rooms, considerate behaviour and other factors such as energy conservation.

Interski Managing Director Colin MacIntosh visited Oswestry School in order to thank pupils and staff personally for their responsible behaviour during their ski trip in April. He presented the school with a cheque for £1000 as a token of Interski’s appreciation. He also gave the School a framed certificate and each student received an individual prize. Presenting the award, Mr Macintosh said that the Oswestry School party had been voted the best out of over 350 UK schools this season. “It is a joy to be able to celebrate positive news about British tourists,” he said.

News of the award was kept a closely guarded secret and so its announcement in assembly came as a complete surprise to a delighted Mrs Morris, the leader of this year’s ski trip. “This is wonderful news,” she said. “It was a great week and the students were a joy to be with.”

Mr Stockdale expressed his thanks to Interski for the quality of the service which they provide to school groups and went on to praise the members of the ski party, saying,. “I am extremely proud of you. You have been great ambassadors for the school at the hotel and ski resort.”
