Bellan House was rocking to the beat on Tuesday, when the pupils took part in a series of percussion workshops, led by John Walker of the Totnes-based organisation ‘Drum Crazy’.
Responding with enthusiasm to John’s energetic direction, the children participated in a multicultural percussive experience as they played different varieties of drums and other instruments, often accompanied by rhythmic chanting and lively dance.
“It’s been really interesting,” said Henry, a Year 4 pupil, “I enjoyed playing all the different kinds of drums.”
“I’ve had a great day,” said John Walker at the end of the final concert. “The school has a strong music department and the children picked things up really quickly. It’s all about teamwork and it was clear that the children were supporting each other.”
