This week, the CCF Cadets were involved in a number of different activities.
1 and 2 Platoons were in an exercise debrief with Capt. Othen and 2nd Lt. Philp. They were debriefing on the Biennial 24 hour camp held at the Nesscliff training area last week. This included talking through the stages of the exercise and allowing cadets to see the ‘big picture’ regarding the Company formation they were operating in.
Year 9 Cadets, (those who have passed weapons training,) were in the shooting range with Major Evanson working on passing the shoot required to gain the Army Proficiency Certificate. After a few blips of jammed rounds, the magazines were quickly emptied out with no one successful this week.
3 Platoon were with Capt. Leonard going through several exercises to improve their technique of performing drill movements which also forms part of the Proficiency Certificate syllabus.
4 Platoon was with Lt. Maxfield on the hillside going through weapons training, in order to advance to the firing range.
Sgt Powell from the Cadet Training Team was involved in putting the cadets going to annual camp this year through the weapons test as well. The contingent is fielding some 30 cadets this year which is the largest number taken to camp for some time.
