The U14 and U15 girls teams played teams from Ellesmere College in a friendly match, designed to give our girls match practice.
Due to quite a few girls being unavailable to play this Saturday, four girls played out of age group.
Despite losing both matches, the Oswestry girls really enjoyed the morning and played some very good tennis at times, which bodes well for the future as we try to build up our school teams.
U15s
Natalie Renwick and Sophie Yates played as first couple. Natalie served well and there were some great rallies played, especially when Natalie had the courage to play at the net. Their main problem is inconsistency, which will improve as they play more tennis.
Hana Foggin and Vivien Wa'berer played as second couple. This was the first tennis match Vivien has played and she did herself justice with good serving and ground strokes. Hana was the more experienced player - it was a good combination.
U14s
Lucy Williams and Charlotte Watson had their work cut out as A couple against some very hard-hitting opposition but kept calm, returning some good ground strokes. Again, inconsistency is the present problem to overcome.
Ruth Reynolds and Louise Aust had the same problem and need to move more around the court.
Quote from Vivien regarding the morning "It was so much FUN!"
That's what sport is all about; it made the 8.30am departure all worth while!!
