In The Tongue and Groove Show, Birmingham-based story tellers Annamation wove a fascinating web of tales based around the theme of the power of words, showing the tongue as the source of both sweetness and bitterness.
Anna O’Brien, Susanna Willetts and Anna Conomos gave a dynamic presentation of stories from Russian and Greek traditions interspersed with some self-written fables. They combined humour and pathos in a fast moving and imaginative programme of stories within stories. Their powerful a capella singing, using European and Eastern folk melodies, together with simple but effective actions carried their audience into a world of epic tales and exotic characters as they brought the timeless art of storytelling into the 21st Century.
