Rounders

U13, U12 v Ellesmere College (h) 3.30pm

U13s

First Innings
It was a lovely hot sunny day and the U13s were looking forward to their second match of the season. We went into the first innings batting first taking a bit of time to settle into the match. We scored mostly half rounders apart from one full rounder and this gave us a total of 7 at the end of the first innings. Ellesmere then batted and managed to score several full rounders. As we became more settled we showed some very effective fielding, particularly from Lucy Williams who fielded extremely well in the deep field. After the first innings we led by one rounder and it was going to be very close.
 
Second Innings
We were determined to improve our batting and needed to score more full rounders. We started well and managed to score three full rounders and one half at the end of the second innings giving us a total of 10.5. Ellesmere then went to bat and we were focused from the start knowing that we could not make any mistakes. We communicated well in the field, displaying some excellent throws along with several excellent catches.  Ellesmere scored 4.5 rounders in this innings and this also gave them a total of 10.5 resulting in an overall tie.
 
Final score:  10.5-10.5

U12s

It was marvellous to play a match in glorious sunshine and actually complete 2 innings each without being rained off!

Oswestry batted first but were unable to produce the strong hits and did not make best use of scoring the half rounders.  Ellesmere batted strongly and took the lead after the first innings.

Oswestry batted better in the second innings but still need to keep their eye on the ball and go for the half rounders.  They did field very well in the second innings and, although they panicked at times from inexperience, they managed to stump out a few of the opposition.  This was aided by good fielding from Elise on second post and Jade on third post. 

Jade has played little rounders up to now but was awarded Player of the Match.
