1st VII, 2nd VII, U15, U14 v Ellesmere College (a) 9.30am

Wins for the 1st VII and U14s.

1st VII

An excellent performance by the Oswestry 1sts who displayed excellent attacking and defensive play throughout.  Katy Yates and Katherine Stockdale were consistent in the shooting circle and scored a collection of impressive goals; many from long range.  At half time we led 6-2. In the third quarter we maintained the pressure on Ellesmere, dominating the possession and continuing to extend our lead.  In the last quarter, Ellesmere started to come back stonger but we remained resilient until the final whistle.  The match ended with a comfortable and well deserved victory for us, winning 16-8.

Well done to all players, it was a very impressive team performance.

2nd VII

Ellesmere took the lead and scored 3 early goals to put them ahead at the end of the first quarter.  We were more settled in the 2nd quarter and our passing was more composed, however, some basic errors with footwork and obstruction allowed Ellesmere to extend their lead to 6-1 at half time.  In the third quarter we had equal possession but again basic errors broke down our attack and allowed Ellesmere to extend their lead to 9-2.  We strengthend our defence in the last quarter and the match ended 2-10.

U15

This was a tough match for our U15s who had two key players missing.  Alice Redmond stepped in to play Goal Shooter, supported by Stacey Baker.  The team played to the best of their ability but there were far too many basic errors which they must improve on.  The match ended with Ellesmere winning 11-4.

U14

A very impressive performance by our U14s who dominated the possession throughout with several players showing brilliant attacking moves in a fast paced game, with few errors made.  Our defence also played very well and made a number of excellent interceptions.  We led 11-2 at half time.  In the second half we continued to dominate with Sophie Yates showing outstanding play around the court and in the circle to score many exquisite goals.  We continued to extend our lead and the match ended with us winning 21-4; a very impressive display.
