1st VII Lost 14-26
The team did not start well, making silly, basic mistakes with their passing and the defence having difficulty containing the Shrewsbury shooters. The second quarter was significantly better with the Oswestry team settling into a better pattern of play and everyone fulfilling their role in the game.
Unfortunately, lack of fitness showed in the next two quarters, resulting in lack of pace and basic mistakes being made under pressure; Oswestry scored only one goal during this time.

2nd VII Lost 11-14
Due to several squad members being unavailable for this match the U16s gained a place. Sophie Yates, an U14 player, also stepped in at the last moment to strengthen the squad. We took an early lead, attacking well and allowing our shooters, Sophie Yates and Sally Roberts to score some excellent goals. It was a very closely contested match and by half time, Shrewsbury Sixth form were just ahead. In the third quarter, as the wind picked up and the rain set in, we adapted our passing. We became stronger in the defence and Alex Mowbray made several vital interceptions to break down Shrewsbury's attack. At the end of the third quarter, we were four goals down and a victory was within their reach. The rain became heavier causing the playing surface to become very slipply and the last qaurter was cut to five minutes. We continued to work hard as a team, maintaining the possession and allowing our shooters to score another goal to narrow the gap. Unfortunately, time ran out and the match ended with Oswestry narrowly losing 11-14.
Well done to all of the players; it was an excellent team effort and an encouraging display, especially by the younger players.
