It was apparent from the first that this would be a hard match as Welshpool had a Welsh player as GD who played a significant role in keping our shooters from taking possession of the ball in the circle. However, the score was level after the first quarter. Over the next three quarters, Welshpool continued to pull ahead assisted by some basic errors and lack of fitness by the Oswestry team. Anna James played well as GA with Charlotte Dingwall-Fordyce linking well in centre court. Oswestry played some of their best netball in the final quarter, gelling better and making better use of the court space.
Oswestry lost 8-17

U16
It took the Oswestry team quite a while to settle into this match, giving the Welshpool side the opportunity to move ahead significantly. We made basic errors of crowding together and inaccurate passing. Eventually, the Oswestry team started to pull themselves around, concentrating on using the space better and marking more consistantly. Alex Mowbray demonstrated excellent ball-handling skills and Kinzi Welsby found her form in the circle.
Oswestry lost 6-18

U14/U15
This was a mixed U14/U15 game and their first of the season. It was a very good performance with all players gelling well together. The match was very exciting and possession was fairly even in the first two quarters. In the third quarter we became more settled with more accurate and diverse passing. Sophie Yates and Stacey Baker demonstrated consistent shooting and played well under pressure to extend our lead into the final quarter. Our attacking play was excellent at times and all players worked hard defensively to make important interceptions to deny the Welshpool attack and maintain our lead.
Oswestry won 24 - 15
Well done.
