The Oswestry School Sponsored Walk 2008

The day was bright and beautiful as intrepid students and staff mustered for the start of their 12-mile circuit of the Shropshire hills on the Oswestry School Sponsored Walk. Organised with the support of Oswestry Rotary Club, the aim of the walk was to raise money for the LEAP School and the Institute of Cancer Research.

The sun continued to smile as the walkers wended their weary way through the beautiful borders scenery, to the welcome sight of the Cross Keys at Selattyn, where dinner was served. A short rest but not enough for tired muscles to stiffen up, then back to the road.

The careful organisation worked very well, with any problems being dealt with smoothly. The lead group passed the final check points slightly ahead of schedule before arriving back at school for a well-earned rest. The good weather held until everyone had returned safely, the last group checking in at 3.30pm.

A very big thank you to all the organisers of such a successful event, especially to the Oswestry Rotary Club for their help and support.

And, of course, thank you to all the walkers. Well done, everybody!
