U13, U12 v Adcote School (h) 3.30pm

U13s

It was a mixture of highs and lows in this match, with some very good play alternating with scrappy, silly passing and basic footwork errors.  At times only part of the court was being used as the girls forgot about space awareness; this will all improve with further practice.

When the squad remained focussed on their skills, they played well together, making good decisions regarding the type of pass to use followed by some good shots at goal.  This is a promising squad who will, I hope, improve considerably with more practice as they are well-motivated.  Well done.

Oswestry won 10 - 5

We started well, showing good passing and movement along with consistent shooting and were leading 4-0 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Adcote beagn to catch up and it became a more even game. As the score became closer, and the pressure increased, we began to make mistakes, failing to select the appropriate passes for the situation and missing opportunities to score.

After half time, we made better use of space and were more composed both around the court and in the shooting circle.  This allowed us to gain a stronger lead and we eventually won the game 10 - 6.

Overall there were some excellent moments but several areas need to be worked on before the next match. Well done to all of the players.

Player of the match was shared between Paige Baker and Holly Payne.
