Founded in 1989, the LMT has attracted considerable critical acclaim, and previous recitals given in Oswestry met with enormous enthusiasm. They play at all the major festivals throughout the UK, and have made several highly recommended recordings. They frequently broadcast on radio in Britain and abroad, and in their recent extended tour of Ireland their performances were enthusiastically received by public and press alike.
Colin Stone (piano) recently performed the whole cycle of Shostakovich’s Preludes and Fugues (all 24 of them!) in the presence of Vladimir Ashkenazy, at Cadogan Hall. It was a magnificent occasion. Charles Stewart (violin) is a widely experienced chamber music specialist, and a Professor at the Guildhall. Cellist Leonid Gorokhov, another superb musician, brings to his playing passion, verve and virtuosity, and completes what is a formidable Trio.
Their programme will include one of the repertoire’s most loved works—the ‘Archduke Trio’ of Beethoven.
