600 Years of Oswestry School Recognised

David Tudor, chairman of the 'The Shropshire Society in London', congratulates Headmaster Paul Stockdale and presents a trophy to recognise the 600th Anniversary of Oswestry School.  The trophy will be awarded on Speech Day for 'enterprise'.

The presentation took place at The Lyth, Ellesmere, home of Mr and Mrs Lionel Jebb.

Background

The Shropshire Society in London, founded in 1899, arranges social contacts for Salopians in London and gives charitable support to Shropshire organisations.

The Society is open to all those who have a connection with Shropshire, such as Old Oswestrians.  They hold regular meetings, outings, dinners, quiz evenings and other social events.  The Society meets every year at the Shrewsbury Flower Show.  The current President of the Society is Lord Kingsland.

The Society are Shropshire sponsors of the Captain Webb Medal for Bravery awardable to people born in Shropshire for acts of bravery worldwide or any persons who exhibits bravery in helping others in Shropshire.
