U14s
The U14 team started very well in the first match against Grove, with excellent fielding, particularly between Charlotte Hartey and Frances Rowles. The batting also went well, with the girls taking their chances well to creep up the score on half rounders. Oswestry won 4 - 0.5.
The next match was against Ellesmere College, who were batting very strongly. We fumbled a few mistakes at the start, but the girls then settled down and fielded much better. Unfortunately, we did not bat well during our innings which cost us the match. Oswestry lost 4 - 6.
The final match against the Marches followed a similar pattern to the previous match. The girls fielded well against a stong batting side, but inspite of good batting from Hana Foggin we were not strong enough to catch up on rounders.
Oswestry lost 2.5 - 9.
The girls should be proud of their fielding; they covered each ball and the tactics worked well, with every member of the team playing their role. We know we must improve our batting skills, which we hope to do before the next match.
