Tuesday 5th June
Rounders

U13, U12 v Marches School (h) 3.15pm

U13s - Lost 9-11.5

The weather was warm and sunny and perfect for a game of rounders. It was the U13s first competitive match this season. Oswestry were focused from the start and scored 6 rounders in the first innings with Natalie Renwick opening the scoring. Oswestry took a little bit of time to settle into the fielding and made a few errors in the opening part of the match. However, they soon overcame this and kept the scoreline close with Marches leading by only 1 rounder at the end of the 1st innings.

In the 2nd innings, Oswestry didn't bat as well and only managed to score 3 rounders which they were very disappointed with. However, they made up for this with their fielding which was organised and effective only allowing the Marches to score 4.5 rounders. A very closely contested game which ended Oswestry 9 - Marches 11.5.

U12s - Won 11.5-9.5

Oswestry batted first and, in spite of some good fielding from the Marches team, managed to score 5.5 rounders.  Oswestry then worked well together as a fielding team, covering each ball successfully. Lucy Williams and Daisy
Tickner worked well together to prevent half rounders being scored so that the Marches finished with 5 rounders at the end of the first innings.

In the second innings Oswestry improved their batting with some great rounders scored by Lucy Wiliams and other team members taking the opportunity to score half rounders.  Again, in the field good tactics and teamwork enabled the Oswestry team to eliminate most of the Marches players before the final ball was called.

A good result for the U12s, which they richly deserved. as they remained focussed for the whole match, working well together as a team.  Congratulations.
