25 cadets from years 9 to12 took the opportunity to visit the West Midlands Cadet event at Ministry of Defence Stafford today.
This annual event aims to collect as much military hardware as it possibly can under one roof; so as to enable cadets to handle the equipment used by today’s armed forces as well as learn about the many different roles that are available.
The cadets were entertained by a short opening display which involved the Royal Military Police, Infantry, a military band and a drive-by from a scimitar tracked combat vehicle which can be seen on the clip here (1Mb).
After the display the cadets were free to wander around the various displays and interactive stands which included a helicopter, main battle tanks, weapons systems and engineering activities such as brick laying and bridge building. The Royal Logistics Corps also supplied food for the cadets.
