Sunday 4th March
Oswestry Youth Music Festival

Competitors Hit The Right Notes!

Dating back to the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations of 1977, the Oswestry Youth Music Festival 2007 took place at the Methodist Church and Christchurch, Oswestry last week between Thursday 1st March and Saturday 3rd March with the Winners concert at 2.00pm in Christchurch today.

Students from Oswestry School entered, and had success, in many classes of this well established competition.  More details will follow, but here we feature two of our boys who enjoyed success representing Ifton Band.

Congratulations to Thomas Rose and Alister Talbot who, having won the Under 12 and Under 15 Brass Solo competitions respectively earlier in the week, took part in the Gala Concert on Sunday.  Tom repeated his performance from Thursday and Alister took part in the competition for the Gull Award, introduced this year for the Under 15 overall winner.

As part of Tom’s award he picked up the Vernon Carter Memorial Cup, which was introduced last year and won by Alister; both names on the cup so far are Ifton Band members.
