On Monday 22nd January the Rotary Club of Oswestry held its annual International Students’ Evening at the Wynnstay Hotel. As every year, there were young people from many different countries present, ranging from Hungary through Canada, Hong Kong to Russia, 11 different countries in total.
The schools present were Oswestry School, the Marches, Moreton Hall and Ellesmere College each accompanied by a member of staff, including Graham Davies, Headteacher of the Marches School.
Oswestry School was represented by Dimitri Tikaonov from Moscow, Russia who is in Year 10, Oliver Sziskay from Budapest, Hungary, Year 12 and Nick Zampariello from the USA, our English-Speaking Union Scholar. The accompanying member of staff was Niall Lambkin, Head of the Sixth Form.
Each young person gave a brief talk about themselves and their country of birth, as well as their impressions of their school and this area of the country. Our contingent were good ambassadors for the School and everyone enjoyed the hospitality extended by the Rotary Club.
