U13 XV vs William Brookes Match Report
Oswestry U13 XV vs William Brookes
On 10th January 2012 Oswestry School played William Brookes. Oswestry School started the game on the back foot where they found themselves in their own twenty-two. However, with some quick passing from the backs Calum Jones made a excellent run from Oswestry’s 10 metre line to score under the posts, which he converted.
Oswestry pushed forward with great rucking from the pack and great hands from Ross, Nick & Calum who nearly set up another try, but Oswestry were forced into touch. A big kick from the William Brookes flyhalf pushed Oswestry back to there twenty- two, which from the resulting lineout unfortunately ended up in a try in the corner for the visitors.
Just before the end of the first half the visitors scored again. End of half score 7-12.
Oswestry started well in the second half and made their way up to the visitors twenty-two where Oswestry were awarded a scrum. This ended up with James Wigley going over for Oswestry's second try.
The visitors started to counter attack which pushed Oswestry back until a great turn over from the forwards. This led to a break by the number eight James Wigley which set up a second try for Calum Jones. But annoyingly was not converted. Oswestry began to tire and unfortunately conceded a third try.
The final score 19-17 to William Brookes.
Thank you to all the players for the effort they put in.
Man of the Match goes to James Wigley for his try and great forward work.
