Team Report -U15 Netball win against Lakelands School
U15 Netball v Lakelands
With two of the squad players missing, Oswestry School's U15 netball team had to adapt their team positions. Oswestry made a slow start to the game and found themselves 4-1 down by the end of the first quarter. After a brief team talk, all players were focused on what they had to do and knew they had to raise their performance.
Oswestry started the second quarter with an excellent worked centre pass followed by effective passing into the goal circle. Caitlin Jones adapted well to the role of Centre and worked hard to link the passes together. Oswestry demonstrated strong attacking and dominated the possession. Laura Kendall and Mollie Robinson combined well in the defence and denied Lakelands several chances. Oswestry continued to maintain the pressure and led 7-4 at the end of this quarter, having worked extremely hard to get back into the game.
The third quarter was much the same with all players working hard and making many vital interceptions allowing Lakeland to score only one goal. Oswestry School were now in control of the game and led 10-5.
In the final quarter Lakelands began to fight back and possession was even. Laura Kendall and Mollie Robinson demonstrated excellent blocking to deny Lakelands their chances and we held strong to secure a deserved 11-8 victory.
Well done girls, it was a good team performance and great to finish the season with a victory. Myself and Ms Willis are grateful for your efforts and we look forward to working with you all next season.
Overall player of the match went to Caitlin Jones.
