Oswestry School U13 XV vs Prestfelde Match Report
Oswestry School U13 XV vs Prestfelde
On Friday the 13th January Oswestry School U13s travelled to Presfelde to face a very strong side.
Oswestry won the toss and decided to kick. In the first half Oswestry defended for the whole 25 minutes as Prestfelde attacked wide and through the forwards.
Oswestry did well to hold the halftime score at 17-0. With some encouragement at half time from Mr Evans and Mr Miles Oswestry came out in the second half a stronger and more organised side.
Oswestry were putting a lot more pressure on their backs and were getting to rucks alot more quickly, this caused Prestfelde to make a few mistakes.
The Oswestry players started to make an impression, good hooking from Martin Pace-Bonello and good propping from Archie Kynaston-Evans, Donald Gray and Matthew Cooper enabled the team to win the scrums.
Some good rucking over from Luc Jarzynski and Andrew Warner meant that Oswestry gained possession of the ball a lot more so that the backs had a platform to attack. Ross Jones, Henry Bowen, Calum Jones, Nicholas Cyffin-Jones and Dominic Fisher could all make crucial runs. Some good pickups from James Wigley at number eight also got us that few metres forward. Unfortunately Presfelde were able to sneak through and score. With a final play being called and a penalty to Oswestry, Calum Jones ran the length of the pitch to score a try but it was too little too late.
The final score was 27-7 to Presfelde.
Man of the Match went to Calum Jones. Special mention should also go to Zak Dobie, Dennis Bates and Robert Duncan on their debut match. And a special thanks to Mr Evans and Mr Miles for their coaching and support.
