Hockey 1st team win against Ellesmere

From the first push Oswestry gained and kept possession and were able to easily play the ball up to Ellesmere’s defence. Fantastic play in the centre by Brittany Webb and Sophie Yates allowed Oswestry to take an early lead. Oswestry kept the enthusiasm and effort up throughout the first half and pi-ferct play down the wing by Fran Dyke and Georgie Mercer allowed Elise Fisher to score before the half time whistle.

Going into the second half Oswestry were confident about the standard of play so far but knew that beating Ellesmere was not an easy task. Oswestry were able to keep the ball up near Ellesmere’s goal and brilliant play by Danielle Plummer and Daisy Tickner kept the pressure on Ellesmere and allowed Oswestry to score another goal.

Strong defence by Nat Renwick and Emily Bromage kept Ellesmere from having many chances to score but Ellesmere managed to sneak a goal past Paige Baker and put the score at 3-1. Oswestry then stepped up their game and with Issy Makin’s su-PI-be play down the wing Oswestry were able to finish the match 4-1.

Player of the match was shared between Fran Dyke and Elise Fisher for there continual effort and superb play together down the wing.
