1st XI Victory against Shrewsbury School
Oswestry 1st XI made the short trip to play Shrewsbury School. The boys were expecting a tough battle against a Shrewsbury team which is usually very competitive.
After loosing the toss Oswestry were invited to bowl first on what looked a very flat pitch. Although we dropped a couple of catches the team bowled well as a unit with Tinashe Munyoro and Dennis Samunda bowling good spells and Scott Vallely taking three very good catches.
However our star performance with the ball came from Robin Edwards who returned with four wickets after a hugely impressive spell of bowling considering he is still in Year 11.
Shrewsbury set us a victory target of 124 from 30 overs and captain Oliver Newman got Oswestry off to a brisk start with some early boundaries before falling to a missed timed drive. This bought Dennis Samunda to the crease and after surviving an early chance he paid the bowlers pay with some outstanding stroke making on his way to 92 not out. He was well supported by his fellow countryman Tinashe Munyoro as they saw Oswestry home to an 8 wicket victory with 14 overs to spare.
Congratulations to the team on a very accomplished performance and especially to Robin and Dennis for their man of the match performances.
