By winning the toss we came on to the pitch with the mindset that we were determined to win. In the first quarter this had already prevailed. We were playing with great accuracy and fluency despite the wind picking up throughout the game making passes increasingly difficult. Filling in at C, Becky Adcock made a smooth transition from her normal position of GS, making several outstanding interceptions which created numerous scoring opportunities for the team. Louise Aust, initially lacking in belief in her scoring ability, was now scoring goals with confidence by the end of the first quarter. This allowed us to go into the second quarter leading 14-4. We were now gelling well as a team thanks to a solid defence provided by our GK Mel McNeill, GD Natalie Renwick and WD Paige Baker, who made it very hard for the opposition to score. By half time we were leading 20-9. At this point it would have been easy for the team to have been complacent by relying on the score that we had already built. But in the third quarter we had a sudden energy boost and extended our lead to 28-14, thanks to Georgina Mercer who worked tirelessly to gain possession of the ball and to feed it onto to our shooters. Barely half way through the last quarter a King's player sustained an injury to her knee making her unfit to play. In light of this, it was decided that the game should not continue and so the match ended 29-14. A great and well deserved victory for the girls! Well done!
