Introduction

In addition to the timetabled lessons, we offer a wide range of after school clubs and activities. Pupils of all ages are encouraged to get involved and these clubs can be continued as pupils move to the Senior School, when they can extend their skills by undertaking more advanced classes. There is a charge for some of these activities.

Clubs and Activities

Chess

The Prep Department runs an after-school Chess Club all year. We believe the best way to learn chess is to start young. It is one of the most complex games to master and so learning the basics in a fun way, whilst beginning to discuss improvement through the introduction of strategy, is very important.

Chess has many benefits which include cognitive analysis, problem-solving and sportsmanship, but most of all it is fun! There are also some opportunities to compete against other schools in the area.

Craft

We offer a range of craft clubs where children are able to experiment with a range of activities according to their age and interest. These clubs offer pupils the chance to express their creative talents in an informal and supportive environment.

Country Dancing

Children of all ages are encouraged to take part in the country dancing club.

This weekly club offers children the chance to use up plenty of excess energy whilst taking part in a fun filled activity. Listening skills, concentration, co-ordination and social skills are all enhanced through this traditional activity.

ICT

We run an after school ICT Club, which alternates between KS1 children and KS2 ages termly, and is taken by our Primary ICT Co-ordinator Mr Birchwood.

The content of our ICT Club is a mixture of inspirations. Sometimes the children want to continue or complete work we have covered in school, or bring websites and ideas that they have found through their own interests. New concepts and ideas are introduced in preparation for more advanced learning later on, as well as experiencing some entertaining educational websites.

Performing Arts
