Clubs and Activities

Introduction

In addition to the timetabled lessons, we offer a wide range of after school clubs and activities. Pupils of all ages are encouraged to get involved and these clubs can be continued as pupils move to the senior school, when they can extend their skills by undertaking more advanced classes.

Chess

Bellan House runs an after-school Chess Club all year. We believe the best way to learn Chess is to start young. It is one of the most complex games to master and so learning the basics in a fun way, whilst beginning to discuss improvement through the introduction of strategy, is very important. Chess has many benefits which include cognitive analysis, problem-solving and sportsmanship, but most of all it is fun! There are also some opportunities to compete against other schools in the area.

 

ICT

We run an after school ICT Club, which alternates between KS1 children and KS2 ages termly, and is taken by our Primary ICT Coordinator Mr Birchwood. The content of our ICT Club is a mixture of inspirations. Sometimes the children want to continue or complete work we have covered in school, or bring websites and ideas that they have found through their own interests. New concepts and ideas are introduced in preparation for more advanced learning later on, as well as experiencing some entertaining educational websites.

 

Performing Arts

We offer a wide range of performing arts clubs, including Ballet, Modern dance, Tap, Street Dance and Drama. To view the current timetable please click here.

 

 

 

 

 

Sport

The PE staff and the Oswestry School Sports Leaders provide a wide range of out of school hours learning opportunities that take place immediately after school on the senior school site. Extra- curricular sports are fully inclusive and are of mixed sex however, some activities are age specific.

They include: Football, Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Swimming, Tennis, Rounders, Athletics, Cross country, Fives, Kung Fu, Fencing, Basketball, Fitness and Multi-sports.

Through attendance at such clubs, skills are improved and the will to win becomes stronger.
