Old Oswestrian Golf Day - Friday 29th June 2012
The Old Oswestrian Society's Annual Golf Day will be held this year at Oswestry Golf Course on Friday 29th June 2012 with tees from 1.30pm-3.30pm.
With the cost at only £120 for a 4 ball team to include golf, dinner and prizes, why not make up a team of men and women and invite your friends to bring a team. We are looking for any interested party to form a four, or come as a single; perhaps friends from work or fellow parents. Proceeds towards School Sports Astroturf pitch.

Derek has now written a fuller account of his memories for the latest OO Newsletter. However its length means that it is better to feature it here, together with the photos he also sent along.
Derek says that he found sharing his memories "most interesting and rewarding", and that it "brought back many happy memories" for him and he hopes that "it will for those who read it".

The Sad Passing of War Hero Roy Ollerhead

As ever the School and Old Oswestrian society saddened to learn of the passing of an OO. Roy Ollerhead passed away at the age of 88 and was not only a localhero , but a war hero. Roy was a retired RAF navigator who flew 30 bombing missions over Germany before later teaching hundreds of schoolchildren in Oswestry.

The School and Old Oswestrian Society are saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Halliday on February 19th 2012 at the age of 87. He was a very well known and respected Welsh actor appearing in theatre, film and television, enjoying a career spanning 60 years.

Ian Steele Rewarded For Educational Visits to Treflach Farm

In August 2006 their son, Ian, also an Old Oswestrian, returned from working in London to start a new business on the farm with the aim of proving that small scale agriculture can indeed be environmentally aware, promoting biodiversity and remaining viable in today’s difficult and competitive food production market place.

'Everest' Lecture - 11th January
OO Andy Chapman (1981-84) will be giving two lectures about his recent ascent of Mount Everest.
From 11.00-12.00 Andy will be speaking to Years 6-9 and then from 12.00-13.00 he will be talking to Years 10-13. Both events will be held in the PHC.
Deputy Headmaster Tim Jefferis has said that "a few parents/OOs could perhaps be accommodated if they come through me." You can email Mr Jefferis here.
