Sally's Chester Marathon Update

Sally.jpg
To bring you up to date and remind you, Sally Newman-Carter OO (Head Girl 1999-2000) is running in the Chester Marathon on 9th October 2011 for Cancer Research.

Sally explains how and why she is doing it. "I'm sure everyone will agree that this is an excellent cause, as almost everyone has been touched by the pain cancer causes in some way.

"I am not a 'natural' runner and training for this has not come easily for me! Only a couple of years ago, I couldn't even run more than 100 steps at a time!  But, 4 stone, and several hundred miles of training later, I'm almost ready to face the 26.2 miles!

"In the end, Will Ashurst has had to pull out due to serious knee problems and Lizzie Mahon (nee Haywood) has also had to pull out, but Mimi Pearce and I are still going strong!

"I've dedicated the last 4 months to training for it, sacrificing a lot of fun and frolics (not to mention alcohol!) on the way.  I even maintained the programme in the scorching Nevada heat whilst on 'holiday' in Vegas!

"I hope you'll support me through this marathon - I'm really going to need an incentive to get through those last few miles, and knowing I can't let everyone who sponsored me down will go a big way to making it possible!"

Well it seems the least we can do is visit Sally's JustGiving page and support Sally and Mimi in this remarkable project. The JustGiving website www.justgiving.com/sally-newman-carter will remain active after the race.

With less than a week to go, let's send them our best wishes!
