Old Oswestrian Society Annual Dinner 2011

The AGM at the Wynnstay Hotel was very well attended and included a very productive debate on the future of the OO Society and the format of Founder's Day.

Founder's Day finished with the Annual OO Dinner with guest speaker, former Headmaster, Frank Gerstenberg (1974-85). Many OO's from that time were delighted to see their Headmaster and his wife Val, who joined us from Scotland.

Headboy Douglas Laundy proposed the toast to the Old Oswestrians and this year's President, Mike Longshaw (1971-74) replied.

Martyn Jones, OO Treasurer, who organised the dinner said "I have received some wonderful feedback and it was clear from the atmosphere that all had an enjoyable time.

"My sincere thanks to Frank Gerstenberg, Headmaster Douglas Robb, Head Boy Douglas Laundy, OO President Mike Longshaw and Murray Smyth for their speeches.

"Also my sincere thanks to Graham Arthan for carrying out the Toastmaster duties so well and to John Evans for chairing the AGM in a most efficient and thought provoking way.  Very well done to both."
