OO Golf was a success

Oswestry_School_OO_Golf_2012_.jpg

The 2012 Old Oswestrian Golf Day was held at a busy and breezy Oswestry Golf Club on Friday 29th June. The course was playing well and the food was excellent.

We were pleased that the Club Ladies’ captain Barbara Warner could play golf with us once more and we all hope she enjoys her year leading a buoyant ladies section of OGC.

Also notable is that John Evans has become Club Secretary at Oswestry and was able to play as well, which was much appreciated as he starts around 7.30am and is clearly dedicated to maintaining and improving the club there. We wish him well in his ambitions which he is most likely to achieve, given his accurate and intelligent approach to golf management.

28 Players had come from Manchester and various parts of the UK to play and make the day a success once more.

The raffle raised a considerable sum, so that we are able to make a donation towards School Sports Projects once more. A framed picture featuring and signed by the winning British and Irish Lions captains of the last 40 years was the main prize, which created considerable interest.

I look forward to seeing everyone again next year and wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2012-2013.

Robert Willcox. Old Oswestrian Golf Captain.
