Gina Receives All-American Award

The recent OO Newsletter featured the athletic achievements of Gina Paletta OO (-2006) who is now studying, and running, in the USA.

On Saturday 19th November 2011, Gina competed in the NAIA Cross Country National Championships at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Washington.  Hosted by the Cascade Collegiate Conference and Gina's own Concordia University-Portland (Ore.), the women's 5km race route took in the historic site.

The race drew an All-American performance from Gina who placed 17th in 18:11, leading the runners from the Concordia team.  The honorary All-American title is awarded to the top 40 finishers in this race each year to recognise the best, most outstanding runners of the season.

After the race, Gina was presented with the award at a ceremony held at Hudson's Bay High School.  You can see Gina's presentation at around 37:36 of the NAIA Cross Country National Championship Awards Ceremony here.
