Dr Andy Rogers OO (1986-1993) appears on the BBC programme Newsnight on Tuesday 12th June discussing his role as a psychologist in Hindley prison.

After studying at Coventry University for his degree Andy gained his postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Warwick.  Andy is now the senior psychologist at Hindley prison helping to pioneer a new scheme to tackle the most troublesome inmates of the prison.

Hindley Prison is, according to Newsnight the largest prison in Europe for young offenders. The new scheme that they have is to help look at the most violent of inmates in a new wing called 'Willow'.  Newsnight Reporter, Jim Reid, called this the first 'real attempt' in tackle the cycle of young offenders and their crimes.

Andy speaks to Jim Reid about the purpose and aims of the Willow unit. He tackled the reporters questions confidently and precisely.

The clip for this programme is still available on iPlayer until the 20th June.  www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01jxx1y (Andy features approximately 38 minutes into the clip).
