Year 8 Sculpture Excursion
Year 8 art students went to the Liverpool Tate art gallery to see the 'DLA Piper Series -This is Sculpture' to support the sculpture project that they are working on this term. The exhibition displays the history of modern and contemporary sculpture and shows new ways of seeing and appreciating sculpture.
They had an entertaining talk about modern art, then after lunch travelled to Crosby beach to see Antony Gormley’s 'Another Place'.
This is a series of one hundred sculptures cast in iron, of the artist which are spread out along a mile of coast line.
The sculptures are at various distances from the sea so many of them become completely submerged once the tide comes in.
Year 8 particularly enjoyed their paddle and the sherbet covered ice creams!
