Bellan House Sponsored 'Crocus Walk'
Fundraising proved to be a walk in the park for pupils and staff from Oswestry’s Bellan House School when they took part in an event to help combat polio.
The entire school could be seen striding out in the sunshine for the sponsored crocus walk which involved four laps of the Cae Glas Park.
The school joined forces with Oswestry Rotary Club for the event, which follows on from their involvement last year when they helped plant 5,000 crocus bulbs in the park to symbolise the End Polio Now Campaign.
Mrs Greatorex said both staff and children had thoroughly enjoyed the walk and were able to see some of the crocuses planted last year in full bloom.
“We were delighted that the walk was started off by the Mayor of Oswestry and a bugle fanfare,”
“The children and staff completed the four laps in beautiful weather and we hope that when all the money is collected we will have raised a considerable amount for such an excellent cause."
Rotary are trying to ensure that every child worldwide should have the polio vaccine and the walk took place on World Rotary Day. for more information on the Rotary Club's involvement with this cause please click here
