Careers Information

CareersImg130.jpg
Oswestry School provides a well-structured careers and higher education guidance programme, in which each student receives individual advice and counselling to ensure that they are aware of the opportunities available to suit their talents. There are university-style seminar discussion groups with visiting academics, which help provide our Sixth Formers with a greater understanding of the transition to higher education. We also coach ‘life skills’ such as interview preparation, management training, leadership challenge, public speaking and personal profiling.

ISCO Careers Workshops

Is a career in medicine of potential interest to you? Or law? Or sport perhaps? The Independent Schools Careers Service is coming to Oswestry School to deliver workshops in the Careers Centre (upstairs in Lower School) for interested pupils during period 4 on a Wednesday:

30th November 2011- Medicine

18th January 2012- Law

1st February 2012- Sport

The workshops will try to answer some of the following questions:

What qualifications are needed? Do I need a degree and if so, which one? What are the entry requirements and tests I need to pass? Which universities are recommended?

What kind of work experience should I do?

Are my expectations realistic?

What does the job involve? What is a typical day like and how much will I earn?

How can I distinguish myself from the competition?

Literature will be available to take away. You will have the opportunity to ask your questions.

Please inform your form tutor if you wish to attend.
