James Gilchrist (Tenor) and Christopher Symons (Piano), Holy Trinity Church, 7.30pm

James Gilchrist is now recognised as one of the elite of English tenors, although he started out in life as a doctor.  He has made numerous appearances on the national and international concert platform with most of the great orchestras and conductors, and is also renowned for his many operatic roles and recitals.  His recording output, too, is huge, and much praised.

Christopher Symons, as Series Director, is a familiar face.  Clad in his pianist hat, he has partnered several notable performers, including John Lill, Martin Roscoe, Tasmin Little, Stephen Varcoe and two string quartets – the Allegri and Skampa (with whom he will play gain in June 2011).

Their programme includes one of Schubert’s most exquisite song cycles, and his last – the aptly named Schwanengesang (Swan-song), as well as Beethoven’s ‘An die ferne Geliebe’.
