The Firsts and U14 played Ellesmere College, both games were played with great determination and strong team spirits working hard for each other.
1st XI
The 1st team demonstrated excellent periods of possession throughout the game as the half's combined brilliantly with the wingers and forwards and provided opportunities to take the lead. The first goal came from Sophie Yates, who took to her new position in the team like a duck to water and played superbly alongside Lucy Williams in the middle who played out of her skin. With five minutes to go Ellesmere equalised which seemed unlikely as the defensive trio of Isabelle Makin, Emily Bromage and Hana Foggin did not but a foot wrong all game.
The girls had held the lead for so long they felt robbed and were desperate to come away with a win. We had a little bit of luck from an Ellesmere mistake in the goal circle, with the ball running towards Tara Anderson who seized the opportunity and threw herself at the ball jabbing it into the goal. The girls were ecstatic.
A very well-deserved win off the back of a brilliant team performance.
Awesome girls - well done!
U14s
Well done to the U14 girls who played brilliantly securing a 1-1 draw, although they were a little disappointed as they conceded a last minute goal. However, Ms Nancini (stand-in coach) was very impressed with their second half performance and there were lots of positives to take from their play; most noticeably the defensive play from Alice Gray and Laura Kendall who kept things tight at the back.
Thank you very much to Ms Nancini and the U14 girls.
