Hockey, Senior Mixed House Competition

As the 1st hockey match was cancelled today, we were able to complete the House Hockey tournament amidst lots of laughter and general good humour as well as serious play.
Hockey, Senior Mixed House Competition
Unfortunately, due to the drop in temperature and the freezing ground, this tournament had to be called off after the first round.
It is hoped that we might find an alternative time this term to complete the tournament as fixtures are already in place for next term and no alternative date is available.

A nice way to finish the season, we put in a really good performance here.
Hockey, 1st Xl v Old Oswestrians, 2.45pm
There was an excellent turnout from the OOs this year with not only a netball team ready and willing to go, but a squad! The standard of play was also very good even though both netball and hockey teams were hampered by thick fog.
As usual, the games were played in a great spirit with everyone really enjoying the afternoon.
Thank you to Lara White and Charlotte Dingwall-Fordyce for organising the OO teams.

Not a great way to end the season at all - a very disappointing performance and result. We played very poorly and lacked any grit and determination to play for each other. Some players really gave 100% but some didn't seem interested at all.
Hockey, 1st Xl v Wrekin College 2nds (a), 3.15pm
Another tough match for the 1sts which was played on atro-turf. Wrekin dominated possession and despite our efforts to close them down we struggled with the fast pace of the game. We had a few good spells of attacking play but could not maintain the possession into the circle. Frances Rowles struck the ball well into the goal but unfortunately it was just outside of the circle so didn't count. Wrekin continued to dominate and despite our efforts we could not break down their attacking play. The match ended with Wrekin winning 7 - 0.

Oswestry 1-5 Malvern College
After recording a great win against Abbey Gate it was back to earth with a bang against a very strong Malvern side; whereas we seemed to have a touch of luck against Abbey, we were slightly unfortunate against Malvern.

Oswestry 6-1 Abbey Gate College
Before this game I was starting to worry about quite possibly being the first captain of the Oswestry 1st XI to go a season without winning a game, and therefore making me the most unsuccessful captain the school had ever had. But in, what has been a long time coming, the 1st XI recorded a victory, and a convincing victory to say the least.

Its easy to sum up this game, we went into the game unprepared and finished it in a style you would associate with an unprepared side.
Hockey, U13 Girls North Shropshire 7-a-side Tournament
Hockey, 1st Xl, U15 v Ellesmere College (a), 9.30am
U15s
The game started well, with both teams being fairly evenly matched. Oswestry had much of the play but were unable to finish off in the shooting circle. Paige Baker made some great saves but could do nothing against 2 magnificent shots from the Ellesmere forwards resulting in us being 2-0 down at halftime.

U15 Netball team are the North Shropshire Champions!
The U15s played exceptionally well with convincing wins against Grove (16-4), Corbet (11-5) and Rhyn Park. As winners of their section they then went on to play The Marches in the semi-final, winning comfortably 8-3. They met Lakelands in the final and this proved to be a very close and exciting encounter with an excellent come back by Oswestry to bring the match level at 7-7 at the end of normal time. Extra-time was then played with Oswestry gaining early possession and Sophie Yates continuing her excellent form in Goal Attack to score two vital goals giving Oswestry a well-deserved victory.
